Where you'll go10
Berner Street Block, Shadwell E1
A tired 1970s low-rise off Cable Street where James has a one-bed flat on the fourth floor. Intercom is broken, the lift smells of bleach, and the stairwell is the best place in the postcode to hear who is arguing with who.
- Watney Market, Shadwell E1Open-air market stalls and cheap shops under the railway. Fruit, phone cases, knock-off trainers, and every rumour in Tower Hamlets passes through here before lunch.
Keisha Boateng - Cable Street Cafe, E1A greasy spoon with fogged windows and a back table nobody sits at unless they want to talk business. The owner, Auntie Rose, hears everything and forgets nothing.
Rose Adekunle and Marcus Adeyemi - Shadwell Station, E1Overground and DLR platforms stacked over Watney Street. Cameras on every stair, staff who know the regular faces, and a quick route to Whitechapel, Limehouse or the City.
- Railway Arches, Shadwell E1A row of brick arches rented out as lock-ups and garages. Some hold tyres and tools, some hold things nobody logs. Padlocks change owners more often than the tenants do.
Danielle 'Dee' Okafor and Jonas Beck - Whitechapel Road, E1The Royal London Hospital, the market, the mosque, and a constant crowd. Easy to disappear into, hard to move quietly through, and full of people who owe small favours.
DCI Elaine Hart - Limehouse Basin, E14New-build flats and old wharves side by side on the canal. Money lives here, and so do the people who move it. Quiet streets, expensive cars, and cameras that actually work.
Leroy Mensah - Bow Road, E3Busy junction where the A11 runs east. Back-street garages, a 24-hour petrol station, and a wholesale unit that supplies half the crews in the borough.
Ryan Doyle and Amara Nwosu - Bethnal Green Gardens, E2Park benches, a bandstand and a lot of foot traffic between the estate blocks. Good for a quiet meet, bad for a loud one.
Tommy Vaughn - Canary Wharf, E14Glass towers, security on every door and money that never touches the street. The laundering end of the game, and the part where mistakes get expensive.
