The Long Night of Lance
Cash, favors and nerve move this world faster than violence, and every favor bought in the park becomes a debt someone will call in later. Word travels the alleys quickly, and the men with badges listen as closely as the men with guns.

Lance
Starts at The Starlight ArmsAn aging addict with a sharp mind and a heavy habit. Lance inherited enough money to keep the nights going and enough grief to stop caring what they cost. He drives the dark streets looking for the man who sold the dose that killed his wife, and every night he must score before withdrawal takes him apart.
Looks likeA lean, weathered man in his fifties with gray stubble, deep lines around tired eyes and short graying hair. He wears black tactical trousers and a dark long-sleeve shirt under a long black leather trench coat, a shoulder holster riding close under his left arm and a flat money belt hidden beneath his shirt.

The Starlight Arms
A three-floor hotel off Seventh with a flickering sign and a clerk who minds her own business. Room 12 is Lance's, paid weekly, with a window that looks down on the street.
Verna Pike- MacArthur ParkA wide city park with a shallow lake, palm trees and a ring of benches where the night trade happens. After dark the paths fill with people scoring, selling and watching.
Micheal and Rico Salas - The North Shore CampA sprawl of tents and tarps along the park's north edge, held together with rope and shopping carts. People here see everything and say little unless you pay first.
- The Golden Dragon AlleyA narrow service alley behind a Chinese restaurant on the park's outer edge. Grease traps, dumpsters, and one dry stretch of concrete where Dwayne and Nikki sleep.
Dwayne Kessler - The Underside of the PierThe dark space beneath the Santa Monica pier, where pilings cut the moonlight into bars and the surf covers small sounds. Night fishermen, runaways and quiet handoffs share the sand.
Dale Hutchins - Ramos MarketA corner store selling beer, phone cards and loose cigarettes at a mark-up. The owner cashes what needs no paper and hears every rumor twice.
- Hector's Body ShopA dented garage on a side street with a roll-up door and a floodlight over the office. Cars come in wrecked and leave clean, and some business never touches a car at all.
Hector Vela and Marco Reyes - La CotorraA narrow nightclub with a green neon parrot over the door and a back booth that is always reserved. Enrico holds court there on weekends.
Yesenia Ruiz and Enrico Lopez - Rampart StationA squat police station with a lot full of unmarked sedans. Narcotics works out of a back room with bad coffee and a wall of photographs.
Jose Juarez - The Sixth Street OverpassA concrete overpass where the streetlights do not reach and the traffic above drowns out talk. Lookouts and runners use the shadows under it.
